LEVEL 3 – Advanced CLIL Specialist
1. Level Profile
Level 3 is the highest tier, intended for:
Teachers/lecturers who have implemented CLIL consistently.
Educators ready to become a trainer, mentor, or coordinator of CLIL/EMI programs within a school/institution.
Individuals involved in policy, curriculum development, or CLIL research.
2. Level 3 Objectives
Develop and lead CLIL programs at the school/institutional level.
Become a role model in high-quality CLIL practice.
Produce innovations (modules, guidelines, research) that can be disseminated.
Provide coaching and mentoring to other teachers.
3. Key Competencies for Level 3
Academic Leadership Competency
Designing a CLIL program for a full semester / full academic year.
Facilitating internal training for other teachers.
Design & Innovation Competency
Developing a ready-to-use CLIL module package (complete with Lesson Plans, worksheets, and assessments).
Critically integrating local wisdom, culture, and global issues.
Utilizing digital technology (LMS, video, interactive tools, etc.) for bilingual instruction.
Coaching & Mentoring Competency
Conducting classroom observation for other teachers and providing constructive feedback.
Guiding teachers in developing CLIL Lesson Plans/Unit Plans.
Research & Dissemination Competency
Conducting classroom action research or CLIL studies and disseminating them through:
seminars,
conferences, or
publications (articles, reports, modules).
4. Level 3 Indicators & Evidence of Performance
Level 3 participants are typically required to demonstrate:
CLIL program documentation on a larger scale (e.g., one educational level/grade).
A ready-to-use CLIL material package (teacher + student modules).
Evidence of being a trainer/coach (photos, certificates, training agenda).
A minimum of one:
research report, or
scholarly article, or
presentation at a CLIL/EMI-related seminar.
Participants who pass the assessment receive the certificate: “Level 3 – Advanced CLIL Specialist.”
5. Training & Mentoring Format
Advanced mentoring (1-on-1 or small group).
FGD (Focus Group Discussion) on school CLIL program planning.
Clinic for writing articles / innovation reports.
Collaboration with MPBI (Bahasa Inggris) lecturers for research & publication.
Suitable for: Core teachers, bilingual coordinators, head of study programs, or lecturers leading CLIL implementation within an institution.
LEVEL 3 – ADVANCED CLIL SPECIALIST
(Advanced CLIL Specialist Training Modules)
Total: 8 Modules • 30–40 Lesson Hours (LH)
Module 1 — Academic Leadership in CLIL
Description: Building capacity to lead CLIL programs at the school/institutional level.
Outcome: Teachers are able to map needs and design large-scale CLIL programs.
Activities: Focus Group Discussion (FGD), institutional analysis.
Deliverable: Draft annual CLIL program.
Duration: 4 Hours
Module 2 — Integrated CLIL Curriculum Design (School-Wide Framework)
Description: Developing a curriculum across subject areas / across grade levels.
Outcome: Comprehensive CLIL curriculum.
Activities: Curriculum mapping workshop.
Deliverable: CLIL curriculum document.
Duration: 6 Hours
Module 3 — Cultural & Local-Based CLIL Learning Innovation
Description: Developing CLIL modules based on the culture and environment of Kalimantan (Borneo).
Outcome: Thematic modules with local character.
Activities: Integrating folklore, ecology, and local culture.
Deliverable: 1 CLIL module based on local wisdom.
Duration: 4 Hours
Module 4 — Digital Technology in CLIL (Advanced Tools)
Description: Using technology for bilingual instruction (LMS, AR/VR, interactive video).
Outcome: Teachers are able to produce bilingual digital media.
Activities: Digital tool workshop.
Deliverable: Digital CLIL media.
Duration: 4 Hours
Module 5 — Teacher Coaching & Mentoring
Description: Training skills in providing feedback and guiding other teachers.
Outcome: Participants are able to become an internal school coach.
Activities: Observation & supervision simulation.
Deliverable: Coaching Form + mentoring report.
Duration: 4 Hours
Module 6 — Classroom Action Research & CLIL Studies
Description: Simple research for improving the quality of bilingual instruction.
Outcome: Teachers understand the design of CAR (Classroom Action Research) / CLIL Action Research.
Activities: Developing a mini research proposal.
Deliverable: Mini research proposal / report.
Duration: 4–6 Hours
Module 7 — Dissemination & CLIL Publication
Description: Writing articles, innovation reports, and conducting seminar presentations.
Outcome: Participants produce a publication manuscript.
Activities: Writing clinic, publication session.
Deliverable: Draft article / seminar poster.
Duration: 4 Hours
Module 8 — Teaching Showcase & Portfolio Assessment
Description: Final competency evaluation in the form of a showcase (teaching + portfolio).
Outcome: Level 3 Certification.
Activities: Portfolio presentation, panel evaluation.
Deliverable: Complete CLIL Portfolio + Showcase Video.
